I find that helping founders find the right mixture of strategic insight, resource leverage, personal development, and management experience is extremely rewarding.  I measure my own progress by measuring their progress – not only that of their companies, but also of themselves.

I’ve spent the past thirty years helping founders create desired results by learning to balance long-term personal, professional and corporate achievements at the same time.  During that interval, I’ve been a CEO for five years, a CEO partner/coach, and a corporate director of closely-held companies ranging from start-ups to firms with $700mm in revenue.  I’ve developed close, collaborative working relationships with founders – the longest is twenty-five years – to help them anticipate next steps, prevent unintended consequences, deal with difficult team issues, mitigate the risks that are so apparent at key junctures in a growing organization’s life, and – perhaps most importantly – “leverage the learning”.

I grew up in Indiana, attended MIT (SB - Management) and Harvard Business School (DBA).  I specialize in strategy and organization development.  I was an early investor, consultant and director for Kronos, Inc., a maker of human capital management software and hardware, where we put together 107 consecutive quarters of year-over-year revenue growth before selling the company to a PE firm for $1.8B in 2007.  I’ve helped to build three consulting practices, in both management consulting and environmental consulting, and led a significant turnaround in a fourth that was then taken public.  I work actively in the software and information industries.

In addition to my role with Sage Partners, I also serve as a Director at Haley & Aldrich, a $100mm environmental and engineering services firm, where I chair the Audit Committee, Financial Strategy and Enterprise Risk Committee and the CEO Compensation Committee.

I welcome the opportunity to work with founders who understand and seek the “power of we” and are highly motivated to see their organizations grow and succeed.
